Abstract

After the United States, Japan and West Germany, Britain has the largest electronics industry. Gross output topped £1000 million in 1968 for the first time and reached £1154 million last year. But if the value of components incorporated into equipment is knocked out of the figures to avoid duplication, net output is nudging the £1000 million barrier which will fall this year even if only the lowest assumptions about growth prove correct.
