Abstract

This is the first article in the new Human Resources Management Department of Planning Review. The article has three primary objectives: 1) To highlight and emphasize the importance of human resources management in the planning process. 2) To encourage our readers to submit articles in‐corporating their own concepts and experience. Particularly interesting are case studies that demonstrate the interaction of strategic business and human resources planning. 3) To illustrate with a real ‐ if somewhat disguised ‐ case study of one major firm that could profitably have given more thought to the human resources implications of a fundamentally sound plan of reorganization.
