Integrating OD & MS

Abstract

In some societies the match‐maker or marriage broker plays an important role in community affairs. His function involves arranging and effecting introductions to promote mutually beneficial contacts between families with a common purpose — namely the marriage of their children. In fulfilling this, often delicate, brokerage function the wise match‐maker has learned not only to consider the wishes and happiness of the parties involved but also to keep a close eye on the implications of any proposed union for wider community and social life.
