Abstract

The HAJJ Research Centre was set up in 1975 at the King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the aim of studying the environment of Hajj—the annual pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca. Hajj is the fifth pillor of Islam and is performed by all Muslim adults at least once in their lifetime provided they have the means and are physically fit to travel to Mecca.
