Abstract

The authors studied the delay period experienced by users in special libraries while awaiting the arrival of journal requests from the BLLD as a possible drawback to the reduction in journal holdings in favour of increased external borrowing. This paper describes a survey undertaken by questionnaire of the opinions of library users in seven companies. The results show that the delay factor is less significant than supposed by many librarians and that inconvenience to users at present levels of borrowing is minimal.
