Abstract

Before talking about information services for the construction industry, it is necessary to say a little about the importance of this industry in national terms. The activities of the construction industry are closely interwoven with our daily lives. Small private houses, office blocks, city centre developments, universities, roads, bridges and gigantic power stations all have to be built. It is an immense industry by any yardstick you may choose to employ—manpower, materials or money.
