Abstract

As there is a great deal of ground to be covered in the present Session, I have only about half‐an‐hour in which to tell you what kind of services the British Museum Library is now offering to social scientists, and what plans it has for the future. This is a very short time indeed, but perhaps it is just as well, for in my investigations in preparing this talk, I found that very few concrete plans have as yet been formed. There are recommendations, hopes, preferences and prejudices, but nothing cut and dried. So what I have done is to include all of the more persistent rumours, and filled in a few gaps out of my hopeful imagination. I will try to make it clear which is which.
