Concept and Reality: Managing Pikes Peak Library District's Community Resource and Information System
Abstract
In 1988, Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) celebrated the twelfth anniversary of its automated community information system. This vast local resource represents over 10,000 records of local information contained in eight public databases. The last twelve years have marked a period of intensive systems' development and maintenance, and afforded little occasion for reflection. This anniversary has presented PPLD with a twofold opportunity: to analyze the status of the files within the library's service plan and to chart their future direction.
