British reference books
Abstract
1. British Scientific Documentation Services. London, The British Council, 1974. 72p.Ll. This is a selective list of secondary services produced by all types of organisations, such as, publishers, information centres and research associations, in the broad fields of science and technology. Details given for each entry include full name and address, telex and telephone numbers of the producer, name of the publication, details of coverage, frequency, number of abstracts per annum, indexes, cost, mailing, back‐up services, and contact within the organisation. The contents list acts as a services index and there are product and subject indexes. Although all types of secondary services, for example, current contents, indexing and abstracting publications, are included it is not a comprehensive list of UK products in this field. Also excluded are those sections of primary journals which act as secondary services. Nevertheless this is a valuable guide to locating suitable services and its usefulness is not confined to reference libraries in the UK.
