AB  - WITH decimal currency achieved, another major upheaval to our national way of life looms on the horizon. We are no strangers to metrication. It was officially recognized by the Metric Act of 1864 which limited its use to scientific purposes. A further Weights and Measures (Metric System) Act, 1897, made it lawful to use the metric system in industry and commerce, but made almost no difference to the country's daily life.
