Abstract

This paper describes the advantages to be gained from the provision of CD‐ROMs in school libraries, together with the problems which must be faced and the long‐term implications of using the medium. It is based upon the author's experiences with CD‐ROM over a number of years in a large secondary school in Scotland, though the lessons to be learned are by no means limited to the Scottish educational situation.
