Abstract

The paper describes the development of an off‐line book circulation system at Leeds University Library with particular reference to the Student Library. Unlike many systems, the circulation database is also used for the public catalogue (held on disc and output on COM); that is, the file which is updated with loans data is a bibliographic file of the complete library holdings. Also described are examples of printouts issued by the system, and their use by library staff.
