The Engineering Information Service at Loughborough University: Practical Experience in Providing an SDI Service from COMPENDEX Tapes

Abstract

A brief description of COMPENDEX (COMputerized ENgineering InDEX) is followed by a rationale of the information service run from this data base by the Library at Loughborough University. Development of the Engineering Information Service is described and its facilities are outlined. Experience and problems in running the service during its first two years are summarised and directions for future development are suggested.
