Abstract

The visitor to Nice stepping from the relative cool of his aeroplane into a temperature of 37°C would be most likely to be on his way to the white pebble beach, perfumed with Ambre Solaire and definitely overpopulated. On this occasion the visitor, just a few kilometres from the airport, turned his back on the sweltering beach and took the boulevard de la Madeleine where after a few minutes' drive he was deposited at the door of SFERNICE. The Société Francaise del'Electro‐Résistance was founded here in Nice in 1938, the first electronics business to be established on the French Riviera, gradually growing to become a leading European manufacturer of resistive components, broadening its range from 1977 by acquiring other companies making complementary products. Nicolitch at Evry was the first of these, a manufacturer of printed circuit boards for the professional sector with a 1984 turnover of FF972 million. Their heating circuits have received CNES approval for space use and the recent launch of SFERFLEX flexible circuits has resulted in a steady flow of work.
