Abstract

Although in Denmark the electronics industry, in its wider context, can be traced back to the early years of this century and had by 1925 developed sufficiently to form a trade organisation, its main expansion came in the years after World War II. Despite the nation's international reputation for good interior and industrial design, electronics have played a remarkably low profile. About 60% of the total production falls in the category of ‘professional electronics’, while slightly more than 20% covers consumer and entertainment products, the balance being components. The emphasis on export is high, with the Danish electronics production sector exporting some 85% of its output.
