TY - JOUR AB - At the end of last year, Bowker‐Saur published Information UK 2000 on behalf of the British Library. This is the report of an attempt to forecast the most significant developments in the way information would be generated, handled, stored and used over the next decade, and to assess their possible impact. A number of experts were invited to express their views as to the likely changes and developments in their areas of expertise which could have an impact on the library and information world. These experts were organised into Task Forces, each considering a specific theme. The experts first prepared individual forecasts, which were combined within each Task Force, by one member acting as coordinator, to provide a consolidated forecast for each theme. The Task Force reports were then combined, together with inputs from other studies, to produce a final report constituting a global forecast covering the whole of the field.
