Abstract

With many US companies owning production plants in foreign countries and others planning to do so, what does it take to run a metal fabricating plant overseas, especially in a developing country and in an Asian culture? Consider ABB Combustion Engineering Systems (ABB/CE), which in a joint venture with two Indonesian firms has set up a boiler components plant on the country's main island of Java.
