Abstract

Removing paint from resin and fibre composite material has presented a major problem. Traditional chemical solvents will attack the resin matrix and hand abrading is labour intensive and potentially damaging to the top lay‐up fibres. The solution to this problem comes from Whitton Surface Dynamics Ltd. inn the form of selected acrylic granules which are delivered to the surface with compressed air. The granules, or plastic media, remove the paint speedily without inflicting any damage on the composite substrate and have the added benefit of being recyclable.
