Abstract

PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS was the first airline to receive Boeing 747 aircraft, and is the largest user with a fleet of 30 and two more on order. As the airline with the first and most 747s, Pan Am was faced with more 747 maintenance problems sooner, and to a larger degree, than most other carriers.
