Abstract

A precision measuring and calculating instrument called the ‘Caliputer’ has been produced by Jet Air Engineering Corporation of San Diego, California. It combines the functions of a vernier caliper, a depth gauge and a slide rule computer, and can also be used for direct readings of circumferences and cross‐section areas, and for other purposes. For example, a machinist can determine the correct speed getting for a lathe in revolutions per minute by setting the rule to the diameter of the stock being used and supplying the proper feed rate.
