AB  - The primary objective in the design of the reversers described and illustrated was to obtain a device inherently safe and reliable, using simple locks and mechanisms. A secondary, but important requirement was operational flexibility, with the proviso that the device should be used for ground control only. Additionally the installation should not adversely affect the output of the power unit when the former is not in operation.
