TY - JOUR AB - Fig. 1 shows the Kerry G.C. lathe manufactured by Kerry's (Engineering) Co. Ltd., Grange Road, Leyton, London, E.10. The headstock is all‐geared with rapid speed selection from two external dials. The feedbox, of the ‘Tumbler’ type, provides 62 English screw pitches; for metric pitches three change wheels arc used. The bed is a one‐piece casting, and is available as standard, gap or long beds. The compound slide rest is graduated to 180 dcg. and can be swung to any angle on cither side of the central position. The feedshaft is separate from the lead screw and gives seven different feeds when the inch gears arc in use, or 28 when the metric change wheels arc used. The lathe admits 23 in. or 40 in. between centres, according to which bed is supplied, and the gap bed provides a swing of 17 in.
