Abstract

This instrument is manufactured by Goodmans Industries, Limited, Axiom Works, Wembley, Middlesex. It consists of a moving coil armature operating in the field of a large permanent magnet. The neck of the armature ends in a rod having a ¼ in. B.S.F. hole for fixing the load. The instrument can be used to apply controllable values of acceleration to components to test their resistance to vibration under various conditions. The illustration, FIG. 1, shows a piece of radio equipment undergoing test in this way. Other suggested applications arc material fatigue testing, liquid agitation, vibration to move powders, etc., along ducts, and the calibration of accclerometers.
