AB  - ABOUT two years before the war, requirements were laid down for automatically operated engine fire‐extinguishers to be fitted to all military aircraft. These were to consist of a fire‐extinguisher bottle discharging methyl bromide into the engine air intake and through spray piping surrounding the engine.
