The spirit of democracy

Abstract

ALTHOUGH it is not very new—the original conception dates from at least 1936—we have thought it sufficiently interesting to publish the description which MR. MOTE has compiled, from two books on the theory and design of aero‐engines, of the Russian AM 34 engine. Its chief interest lies in the fact that it appears to be mainly of original design and not merely a copy of some foreign type as are, or at any rate were, most of the Soviet engines of which we have any knowledge.
