Abstract

This book is a collection of papers read before the newly‐formed American “Society for Experimental Stress Analysis” at its first meeting in May, 1943, which was held at Detroit. These papers constituted at the same time the final transactions of the Eastern Photoelasticity Conference at its seventeenth semi‐annual meeting and Experimental Stress Symposium, fhe new society covers a wider field than the old in that it seeks to foster interest not only in photoclastic methods but in all other modern methods of experimental stress analysis, chief of which perhaps is the “Electrical Resistance Strain Gauge” method.
