AB  - AS users and builders of automobiles, we are so accustomed to thinking in terms of interchangeable manufacturing that we take it for granted even in the case of the aeroplane. It is true that for purposes of service and maintenance in the field, those aircraft parts which arc subject to replacement arc made strictly interchangeable. Aeroplane production, however, cannot follow to the same extent the system of interchangeable fabrication and assembly that is used in the automobile industry.
