The Coming of the Sleeve Valve: Some Views on its Advantages over the Poppet Valve

Abstract

WE publish in this issue what is, we believe, the most complete account yet to appear of the origin and present design of the Bristol series of sleeve‐valve engines. These engines, which are now in some sizes in production, are the result of research which was instituted nine years ago, and it is now four years since the first complete experimental sleeve‐valve engine, the prototype of the PERSEUS, was built.
