Abstract

WORK on the design of the LZ 129 was started in 1928 when the Luftschiffbau Zeppelin decided to build a large airship suitable for the S. American traffic. The first design bore the designation LZ 128, design LZ 129 being evolved later as a modification of the LZ 128 when it was decided to fit compressionignition engines and make provision for the possible use of helium.
