Abstract
BROADLY speaking, machined parts as a class are far too expensive for the services they render, when compared with the cost of comparable plate fittings. Consequently, most firms cut down their number to an abolute minimum, sometimes even making up from plate parts which are generally considered more suited for the machine shop.
