AB  - HOW much is lightness worth? The question is one upon which many engineers have formed their own opinions. Their conclusions range in written expression from the epigrammatic observation of Major Green, of the British Armstrong Siddeley Company, that he would “spend a pound to save a pound any time,” to an estimate of $40 per pound offered by a well‐known American metallurgist. We are going in search of a definite answer, with arithmetic taking the place of speculation.
