A Taking of Stock
Abstract
A JAMES FORREST Lecture on aeronautics is a noteworthy event which has not, we think, taken place since 1914 until this year, and it would be difficult to find a more suitable lecturer than Professor Southwell, whose address is summarised in this issue. Holding as he now does the Chair of Engineering at Oxford, Professor Southwell speaks with an authority added to that of his own past and present achievements; and his recent years of comparative retirement from the aeronautical world, since his resignation from the staff of the National Physical Laboratory, have enabled him to take a detached view of our affairs.
