TY - JOUR AB - Hitherto, wing flutter has been investigated on the simplifying assumption that the fuselage is not set in oscillation by the flutter of the wings. Strictly, however, the fuselage and wings form a single dynamical system, all parts of which must participate to some extent in any vibration. Thus the critical speed at which instability develops in actual flight will be influenced by the mobility of the fuselage, and the object of the present investigation is to find the importance of the effect.
