Campus‐wide Information Systems: Reasons for CWISing
Abstract
There is little question that in the 1990s the buzzword in computing centers across the country is and will be campus‐wide information systems, or networks. (I may have to eat those words if in the next eight years we are able to do away with our keyboards and provide all input to our machines by handwriting or voice. Even in that scenario, it is difficult to picture a computing lab with twenty to fifty machines and students, each conversing with her or his machine to complete a paper due in ten minutes!)
