TY - JOUR AB - With the ever growing popularity of the Macintosh in libraries, it is surprising that there are few applications specifically devoted to the needs of librarians in their day‐to‐day tasks. Products such as the Macintosh Library System from CASPR and MacBook from Companion Software are examples of just a handful of Macintosh‐specific products available for libraries. In this void of applications built from the code up, developers are using sophisticated database management programs such as Acius' 4th Dimension to construct library software for the Macintosh. Examples of these sorts of tools include Biblio‐Tech from Platinum s.a. in Paris, Libra from Ivy Systems in New Delhi, and the Small Librarian from Serenity Partners in Gulf Shore, Alabama. Finally, there are also a number of HyperCard stacks that provide interfaces to library systems such as MacNOTIS at Texas A&M University. HyperCard remains one of the prominent navigational tools in libraries of all types as both an intellectual and geographic compass to collections.
