My invaluable experience in Current Records Management

Abstract

The Ministry of Public Service and Cabinet Affairs (MPSCA) registry is one of the biggest registries in the government of Uganda, with over 40,000 personnel files for the entire Civil Service and about 10,000 policy files. Like with most registries in the country, the situation in the MPSCA registry is dire. It suffers from a very deteriorated physical state, a breakdown in procedures and services, and low morale and lack of training for staff. Being the ministry that contains the records management cadre, which extends through all government registries, MPSCA was deemed the best recipient for intensive training in procedures, creating a model registry to serve as an example and training registry for others.
