Abstract

An account is given of a national survey of staff employed on scientific and technical information work, carried out in the UK in the summer of 1965 by the Office for Scientific and Technical Information. Its prime purpose was to try to obtain some measure of the numbers of such staff and their educational background (including information work), in order to estimate future demand, and the educational requirements needed to ensure that information staff are adequately trained. Appendices set out the data obtained.
