TY - JOUR AB - Nuffield College was founded in 1937 by Viscount Nuffield, ‘to encourage research especially but not exclusively in the field of social studies, and especially by making easier the co‐operation of academic and non‐academic persons’. Its principal aim is to provide facilities for the research work of its Fellows, and for the training of graduate research students, and it differs from most Oxford colleges in having no undergraduates. The building of permanent premises was delayed by the war, but since 1949 work has progressed rapidly and last year the college occupied one wing of its permanent home.
