Abstract

Four entirely separate Juneau, Alaska, libraries, each with its own separate parent administrative structure, formed Capital City Libraries, a multitype cooperative. These libraries share resources, a Dynix automated system including an OPAC, serials and acquisitions modules, Magazine Index, a community resource module, and limited Internet access. Importantly, the system also shares one library card and all 29,000 members of the user community are encouraged to use all system resources. Describes both the enhanced services and cost‐savings which such a cooperative provided.
