Abstract

Although the process of selecting and managing a self‐service library photocopy operation is complicated and challenging, it often presents the astute library manager with the opportunity to offer users higher levels of service while enhancing the library's budget. The library manager can choose one of two general approaches. The minimalist approach can work well for libraries whose patrons have low‐to‐moderate service expectations and who wish to minimize their involvement in photocopier operations. The “hands‐on” approach offers the potential to provide a high level of service while maximizing net income.
