Abstract

Tapping Non‐Tax Sources of Revenue. In an era of scarce library funding, how can libraries find ways to increase their incomes? The ALA office for Research has just released “Non‐Tax Sources of Revenue for Public Libraries,” a survey conducted by its director Mary Jo Lynch, with financial support from The H.W. Wilson Foundation. The report gives information on these potential sources of revenue: charges for services and materials; fines, contracts, and sales, fund‐raising and financial development. The 42‐page report includes 19 pages of tables and graphs plus a three‐page annotated bibliography. Highlights of its findings include.
