Abstract

Earlier this year The Wall Street Journal ran an ad for a municipal bond product with the eye‐catching headline, “If you earn over $43,150, the IRS is taxing you like a millionaire!” The ad went on to say that if you are single and making over $43,150, you've made it to the top tax bracket and are being taxed at the same rate as the rich. And you are faced with the same problem of the rich—how to protect your income from the tax collector.
