RESPONDING TO THE LABOR MARKET: Matching Salaries and Paying for Training
Abstract
The library manager is faced with innumerable personnel policy issues. Two questions that are impacted by labor market considerations are: If a valued professional receives an attractive offer from a competing institution should you match the offer? To what extent should training and professional development activities be paid for by the library, and to what extent should the employee bear the cost?
