Abstract
Editor's note: At the 40th Anniversary Conference held in February, 1998, the Executive Directors of NFAIS (National Federation of Abstracting and Information Services) contributed their thoughts on the past, present, and the future. The thoughts of the current Executive Director, which summarize the past decade and look towards the future, seemed very appropriate for this column and are adapted here with his kind permission.
