NEW CD‐ROMs IN BRIEF

Abstract

Account Ability. A CD‐ROM version of a course which enables non‐financial managers, consultants and professionals understand and use financial statements. Published by Xebec and Price Waterhouse, the course has been re‐developed to increase its overall level of interactivity. Set as a detective thriller, Account Ability introduces Price Waterhouse's seven‐step approach to interpreting financial statements: get a feel for the main features of the business; look at the organization's growth; investigate its profitability, liquidity and investments; consider how it is financed, and finally compile the information and make sense of it. The context for this learning experience is a Philip ‘Maclow’ investigation of the slaying of an investor in a plastics company.
