TY - JOUR AB - Collection development is in the forefront of professional interest and concern. Evidence for this is demonstrated by the growth of library literature, reports in the library press, and the scheduling of professional conferences, meetings, and institutes on this topic. Most of this interest has been directed at the university and research library. Now more and more college libraries are dedicating a specific staff position to collection development, a position separate from that of the head of reference or the chief of acquisitions. Also, college libraries are examining and writing down their collection development policies.
