Coal Tar Based and Bituminous Paint

Abstract

Bituminous paints may be divided into two main classes; those of petroleum origin and those of coal tar origin. Although the unqualified term ‘bitumen’ is usually understood to refer specifically to asphaltic bitumen, the word ‘bituminous’ is habitually used to describe both surface coatings deriving from coal tar and those based on bitumen.
