Abstract

Rust‐preventing Composition. A rust‐preventing composition, Anodite, is stated to be non‐poisonous and ready for use. Its action can be explained in terms of the electrochemical theory of corrosion. The unusual pigment employed reacts with a specially designed vehicle, both in the package and in the dry form after application, to form compounds capable of stifling the formation of rust. These compounds react with the products formed by the attack of corrosive agents as anodes in the ferrous surface and form protective layers, retarding or stifling continued attack. This result is claimed to be achieved without resource to pigments sensitive to moisture or unsuitable for prolonged atmospheric exposure.
