AB  - Since Part III of the Education Act 1944 came into force, under which independent schools are required to seek registration by the Department of Education and Science, correspondence education has been the one significant sector of the educational system for the quality of which no public agency takes at least some measure of responsibility. Only now, with the appointment of the Correspondence College Accreditation Council, is a public stake being established in this field.
