Abstract

This paper examines the way small unit retailers in Nottingham Metropolitan area use the two major channels of distribution available to them. It suggests that these two forms of wholesaling are, to some extent, counter productive and concludes that the problems of supply require detailed examination if the future of the independent retailer in Britain is to be assured.
